Frequently Asked Questions
How do I care for my sea glass jewelry?
To keep your sea glass looking its best, avoid applying lotions or sprays while wearing. Oils heighten the color, but diminish the sea’s natural frosting of the glass.
Cleaning can be done with a mild solution of Dawn dish detergent and a soft toothbrush. Rinse and dry gently with a soft cloth using a patting motion to avoid snagging or breaking a wire.
Handle carefully and these sea glass treasures will provide serenity and beauty for a lifetime!
How do the sliding knots work?
To make your cording longer, simply grasp the single piece of cording below the knot, then gently pinch the knot and slide it toward the clasp. Repeat with the other knot until the loops between the knots and the clasp are even. Finally, you should carefully slide the clasp so that it sits in the center of the loop.
To make your cording shorter, grasp one of the two lengths of cording that make up the loop between the knot and the clasp. Pinch the knot and try to slide it away from the clasp. If it doesn’t move, try the other cord. Natural leather cords can stick, so you may have to try a few times before discovering which side allows the knot to slide away from the clasp. When you achieve the desired length, make sure your loops are the same size, then carefully adjust the clasp so that it is evenly spaced on each side.
What do I need to know about magnetic clasps?
The new generation of neodymium-iron-boron jewelry magnets should not be worn by those who have a pacemaker, implanted defibrillator, or insulin pump as the magnets can interfere with the performance of such medical devices.
Some people worry that magnetic clasps may catch on a coat or scarf and pull apart, causing the loss of a necklace. While Pacifica Sea Glass has not encountered that problem, we want you to enjoy your jewelry for a lifetime.
Any customer purchasing a pendant that is sold with a magnetic clasp can request substitute cording with sliding knots only. If a traditional clasp that matches the pendant is available, it can be substituted as well.
